walk to maxstoke and back. wigeon, gadwall, lapwing, greylag

around 50 species seen, overall quiet with little visibility and light snow.
highlights 20 yhammer around vauls farm, the 25 wigeon ,gadwall,25 greylag, 100+lapwing and lesser redpoll at Bedworth pit. also deer 9 and Hare 10.

4/5th feb 2016

Over the weekend managed to get out both days, on the Saturday I went on a 13mile mega walk to just west of fillongley, which I sotted around 55 species including yellowhammer, raven, lesser redpoll, brambling, siskin etc. and on the sunday just my usual patch walk.

January shovelers&shelducks

Not been able to get to a laptop most of the month but theres been some good birds around.
A rainy night brought 50 teal the usual being 10

Got a lot of time for ravens!

Always nice.

Leave the public footpaths and u you never know what u will see, not that I'm promoting trespassing!

RSPB MIDDLETON LAKES

water rail
had another walk this xmas eve lots of birds about got onto the water rail showing well under the feeders with good numbers of great/blue/coal tits, chaffinch, goldfinch, greenfinch, house sparrow dunnock blackbirds gs woodpecker and a siskin. on the lakes tufted duck, gadwall, coot, moorhen, mallard, teal, swan, pochard, goldeneye, little egret, heron, cormorant, wigeon. got to the meadow just before dark in the hope of seeing barn owl, which didnt show but a woodcock did which was nice, on the walk back to the car park heard a male and female tawny owl!

This mornings walk around the woodlands produced just under 40species with greats views of kestrel, raven. a definate lack of siskin comparing to the month of october on the pit bank.
