plenty of goldcrests

Very windy day but braved the cold to head down to causey on foot.

highlights were the east side entrance to fortune hill wood where a flock of 20 goldcrest, 2 nuthatch(a year tick), 20 long tailed tit, 4 coal tit, 2 treecreepers (year tick), 2 great spotted woodpecker,3 bullfinch and blue tit. it was great to see as the rest of the wood was very quiet also noticed the goldcrest preferred feeding on the birch, while the nuthatch stuck to the oaks.
A few fallen trees

Spotted about 10 trees which have been blown down by the recent winds.

on the way to the woods there were a lot of redwing about around 100, 2 red kite, kestrel, pheasant, goldfinch, buzzard (year tick), song thrush, mistle thrush, 30 starling, herring gull.

also heard a tawny owl at around 4 pm around the tanfield track towards sunniside.

no meadow pipit, skylark probably due to the fields they used to love have all been ploughed.
